Lumifly publishes educational content to help consumers understand solar energy, electricity billing, Virtual Net Metering, subsidies, costs and project economics. Our goal is to make complex topics easier to understand while clearly separating verified facts, planning assumptions and Lumifly-specific commercial information.
This policy describes the approach used for content published under the Lumifly Solar Team byline.
Our Editorial Principles
Accuracy over volume
Lumifly aims to publish fewer, more useful pages rather than creating content simply to increase search traffic.
Primary sources where available
We prefer official regulations, programme documents, utility publications and government notifications for regulatory and scheme information.
Facts and assumptions are separated
We distinguish regulatory facts, financial assumptions, illustrative examples and Lumifly-specific product information.
No guaranteed financial outcomes
A general educational example is not a quotation, tariff order, financial recommendation or guaranteed result.
State rules remain state-specific
We do not treat one state’s electricity rules as automatically applicable to another state, utility or consumer category.
Material changes are reviewed
We update affected content when significant regulations, programme rules or documented calculation methods change.
How We Choose Sources
Lumifly prefers primary sources where they are available and relevant. These may include:
- Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE)
- PM Surya Ghar
- State electricity regulatory commissions
- DISCOM and electricity-supply company publications
- State renewable-energy agencies
- Official government notifications
- Tariff orders, regulatory filings and programme guidelines
Secondary sources may be used for background or context. Regulatory and financial claims should rely on primary material wherever practical, although not every educational article contains a complete primary-source list.
How We Review Regulatory Information
Electricity regulation in India varies by state, utility, consumer category and project structure. Lumifly does not treat one state’s rules as automatically applicable in another.
Pages covering Virtual Net Metering, net metering, shared solar, subsidies or state-specific solar rules may display a “Last regulatory review” date when the relevant official sources have been checked. That date is separate from the article’s publication and modified dates.
Regulations and utility processes can change. Consumers should confirm current eligibility, metering, credit treatment and application requirements with the relevant regulator and serving DISCOM before making a project decision.
How We Present Solar Costs, Savings and Returns
Financial content may include illustrative examples, calculator outputs, general India-wide scenarios and project-specific Lumifly estimates. Each serves a different purpose and should be read in its stated context.
Financial examples explain how solar economics work. They are not guarantees of future savings, ROI, IRR, payback or electricity-bill outcomes.
Where Lumifly publishes calculator results, the applicable assumptions and formulas should be documented through the methodology page. This does not mean every general educational example uses those calculator inputs.
Solar Savings uses a general India-wide educational model. The calculator on Savings uses Lumifly’s documented calculator methodology.
Subsidies and Incentives
Government assistance depends on scheme rules, consumer eligibility, project type and current programme availability. Residential rooftop financial assistance should not automatically be assumed to apply to managed, shared or Virtual Net Metering projects.

Publication and modified dates should reflect actual content history. We do not change article dates simply to make older content appear new. A meaningful correction or substantive update may change the modified date where applicable.
Educational Content and Lumifly Services
Some pages explain rooftop solar, Indian solar economics or regulatory concepts generally. Other pages describe Lumifly’s managed/shared solar model. General educational content is intended to explain solar concepts broadly. Lumifly-specific commercial terms, eligibility, project structure, pricing and customer obligations are governed by the applicable project documentation and customer agreement.
